It is the patient’s responsibility to call the surgery for their test results. Should the results be grossly abnormal the Doctor or Hospital will contact the patient directly
Please wait for 3 working days before ringing for your blood test results. For Urine/ Stool (poo) samples wait for 7 working days. X-rays and scans are normally back after 10 working days and cervical cytology after 14 days. There may be occasions when results are not back with this time frame or the Doctors have not read or actioned the results, especially if they have been on leave. Please try again 2 working days later.
Requests for copies of any investigations must be made in writing or via the online services (not email) and will be ready for collection within 3 working days
Since our telephones are very busy in the early morning, we ask you to telephone for test results (eg blood, urine, x-ray) between 12pm and 2.30pm and 5.15pm – 6.15pm each week day. Pregnancy test results will not be given out over the telephone and the patient will need to bring proof of I.D before we release a pregnancy result.
To ensure confidentiality, we only release results to the patient, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing between the patient and their Doctor.
